I just bought a Casio PX-555 with the USB connectivity and I was wondering how do I transfer the songs I've made on the piano to the computer. Huh I've hooked up the piano, installed the driver, and set up the option under Midi Music Playback in the Control Panel, but I've still got nothing. I guess what I'm expecting to see is something similar to when you plug a jump drive into a computer and after installing the driver, you can transfer files back and forth. Is there some sort of interface software that I need to user between the computer and the piano? Thanks in advance for helping a newbie with something that probably so simple it should laughed at!  Grin

Thanks for your question cengelen

As I understand it cengelken
you could :
1) One way - save the song youve recorded on PX555 to a smartmedia card and then put it in a smartmediacard Reader. Im just not sure if the file youd be saving would be midi or .cm2 (Ill check this out in next few days and get back to you about this there) as .cm2 is the casio format recorded song, but you can save midi to a smartmediacard on the wk3700  The smartmedia card reader is connected by usb to the PC. anyway it needs to be midi if you want to then open windows media for instance and read the card for the smartmedia reader card.

SIMPLE INSTRUCTION 1)  Connect smartcard reader to PC. 2) save song onto smartmedai card on PX555 3) Insert cars in Reader
4) drag and drop or copy and paste file now in card in reader in windows to the windows folder

2) You need a program like ANVIL you can download in the forum here. In the help section of ANVIL it will give you some more specific guidance of how to record with it but only general. There are many such program the more professional ones beng Cakewalk and Cubase - But with a USB cable from the Px555R or PX400R or any USB enabled or any keyboard with midi/out and a if users had a midi connection kit in that case) , ANVIL or any other midi sequencer program will "hear and record" the midi played from the USB frm the piano( that is definately MIDI )

SIMPLE INSTRUCTION t 1)  SET ANVIL to record sychnro - 2) play the song on the PX555R through USB into anvil

good luck - if more questions just ask

How to access mid files from the SD Card

First, let me say Bravo for this forum. what a great idea !!.

Now,  Santa gave me a LK-300TV a few days ago.  Grin

I've been able to load some midi files I have to the user songs (50 to 59) with no real problems.
Now I wouls like to be able to get some of these files from my PC to the SD Card I have and then read them from the casio.
I used the converter program, selected the option to save to disk instead of transfer to Casio keyboard, then I copied the converted files to the SD card and installed the card in the card reader of the casio. after that the keyboard tells me thet there are no files on the card  but if I look on the card from the PC, I see them. Huh

Could you tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Thank you

All of the info you want is in your manual

- however - a free member is more likely to try and help you more if :
1) you register, so they know youll probably return to  look at the answer ( registered members can also use their forum mailbox to send personal messages to others)

2) you show in detail , so they dont have to guess which step youve missed out , what it is youve done so far - as mentioned all of this is in the Casio Manual - let us know which keyboard and we can help but REGISTER first please
